Black Berry, Red Berry and Cell Phone Mailbox Begin Racing in China

News & Reports: Black Berry, Red Berry and Cell Phone Mailbox Begin Racing in China

Recently, China Mobile has provided two new push mail services, Black Berry and Cell Phone Mailbox for enterprise users in China. Before, China Unicom just started the similar business named Red Berry.

Both Cell Phone Mailbox and Black Berry are encrypted push mail services but have different target clients. Black Berry mainly focuses on multinational enterprise users who frequently use their cell phone roam in China. Hence, according to service levels, fees of Black Berry provided China Mobile are 398 or 598 RMB as the same as those in North America.

Cell Phone Mailbox targets at domestic enterprise or governmental users, especially users of GoTone, a famous brand owned by China Mobile. Cell Phone Mailbox also provides two service packs, costed respectively 98 RMB and 148 RMB.

Comparatively, the fee of a standard Red Berry service pack with 5M-sized mailbox costs every user 5 RMB per month while that of a service pack with 200M-sized mailbox for high-end enterprise users is 30 RMB.

Although fees of Black Berry and Cell Phone Mailbox are far more expensive than those of Red Berry, one officer from Data Service Department of China Mobile said that since Black Berry’s Push mail technology could support any network and in initial time users of these two services were almost enterprise users, the fees were basically reasonable according to their research.
